SER is the winner of the Ballston Business Improvement District's 2014 Restaurant Challenge. It is an authentic Spanish tavern or “food house” with a casual, hipster vibe. But, take note…it’s not a tapas restaurant. It’s a gastronomical journey and cultural adventure throughout every region of Spain. It’s an easy-going gathering spot where guests can enjoy typical comfort foods and beverages from Spain at any time of the day or night. The team at SER are your foodie friends from Spain who have a mean kitchen, sharp cooking skills, and comfortable house where you hang out until the wee hours of the night.

SER Restaurant is a highly acclaimed establishment recognized for its exceptional dining experience. It has been featured in the Washingtonian's Best 100 Restaurants list in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2023. Additionally, it has consistently ranked among the Top 50 Best Restaurants in Northern Virginia from 2020 to 2024 and is celebrated as one of the top restaurants in Arlington.

I was here in the summer for the first time and really liked the food and the service. Walter our server then recommended a really good bottle of wine. I returned this time to celebrate a friends birthday. The hostess who greeted us was friendly and welcoming, and we were seated immediately. I was pleased to see that Walter was our server and again recommended an excellent wine. The food was fabulous. We ordered multiple tapas for our group of five and each dish was excellent. Walter has a great personality and is very knowledgeable about the wide variety on the menu. All our dishes came out in a timely fashion with no delays. The noise level was moderately loud as the restaurant was completely full. The lamb, grilled octopus, peppers stuffed with beef, the cod fritters, veggies grilled with goat cheese , chorizo, papas bravas and the flan for dessert — all delicious. We never felt rushed and left 3 hours later, like the last time. Had another great experience.

We love SER and have been several times. We like tapas plus a shared entree like fish or paella. Everything is super flavorful.

Great food. Enjoyed everything we ate. We even loved the tuna in the the potato leek soup. the chocolate soufflé was scrumptious.

Came in to celebrate at one of our favorite restaurants. Everything was delightful, top highlights were the Iberico carpaccio, the lamb special, an excellent sherry picked by our server, and the service itself (thank you Moises!)

Food came out an hour late. Food portions were small for the price. Charged us twice for our most expensive dish.

We always leave SER happy. Such a well kept secret (which is surprising at this point in their tenure) in the Arlington area. The food is wonderful, the red sangria is truly the best we've had in the DMV, and the overall atmosphere is exactly what you want for a date night or dinner with friends. I can't recommend it enough!
