Please note that this is not a customly created chef's tasting course, but rather a compilation of our existing menu and specials of the day. Designed for sharing, this menu is perfect for groups of two or more and requires a minimum of two guests. To ensure availability, reservations are required. The Omakase menu is priced per person and excludes tax and gratuity. Beverages are not included in the course but can be added at an additional cost. My wife, and our son and his girlfriend, had dinner at Shimogamo Chandler to celebrate our son’s first job. For the first time, we ate at a table, instead of at the sushi counter. Our server, Micah, was terrific. She clearly knew the restaurant, the menu, the food and the drinks. We started with an excellent sake, Ippongi Daiichi Gitai, that was presented by the bar manager, Matt. We ordered a huge assortment of mostly nigiri sushi; Madai (Sea Bream), Mejina (Opaleye Nigiri), Kamasu (Barracuda Nigiri), Kinmedai (Goldeneye Snapper), Aji (Jack Mackerel), Umi Masu (Ocean Trout), Hotate (Sea Scallop), Anago (Sea Eel), Ama Ebi (Sweet Shrimp), Baja Uni (Sea Urchin Sashimi), Santa Barbara Uni (Sea Urchin Gunkan). Micah had the chefs course our fish selections perfectly. After the sushi, we had the Hatcho Miso Duck, Yuzu Mushroom and Fried Shishito Peppers. For dessert, my son and I tried the Harvest in Uji and Matcha Hai cocktails. Everything we had to eat and drink was delicious. If I had known that they had Kakigori (Japanese Shave Ice) for dessert, I would have saved room for it. That’s one more reason to return for another meal, I guess.
