Standing high above the city on the 10th floor of the City Club Apartments, at 309 Vine Street; resurrected from the history that has stood here before our time, Shires' Rooftop is inspired by the first amusement resort in this part of the country, Shires' Garden. Though the original Shires' Gardens burned to the ground, "in a most picturesque fire," the legacy that was left behind is everlasting and an integral part of the Queen City's history. The creation of the Matinee Performance, the regal guests Shires' hosted, an unsolved murder and other noteworthy events that took place at the original Shires' Gardens, are an inspiration to our program that we look forward to sharing with you.

We had a good time. Serve we was great. Food was really good. The problem was that the lights were so so bright, plates and glassware mix matched and cheap, only one bartender so we didn’t get served while waiting for a table (we arrived early before our reservation), and battery candles all off. It felt like the place needed a little refresher.

Our second time here. Was nearly empty on a Friday. Our server was great but everything else was awful. Drinks were made incorrectly, food took a while and was not good. Pasta was unsalted, overcooked and had been sitting around for a while. Would not recommend and will not return.

Food was undercooked and sloppy, presentation was mid. Crab cakes were mushy and inedible. Service was stellar though.

Delicious and great atmosphere. Came here on a whim and enjoyed everything. I had the spinach & artichoke dip which was delicious, and the beignets were better than I expected! Just came in overnight and would absolutely go again next time I’m in town.

Amazing food and drinks! The chefs feast for two was incredible and I highly recommend it! The rooftop outside is a beautiful view. Definitely coming back!

Disappointing. The food was rather bland. Drinks were "ok". Our server, Crystal, was marvelous!! The one bright spot.

My husband and I went to Shires for a Friday night date night. It was a cool rooftop setting with expansive views of the river, stadiums and the charming Roebling Bridge. The bartender absolutely nailed my gin martini, the host made indoor accommodations for us when it got a bit too cool for us outside and our meals were fantastic. We shared the meal for two which was plenty of food with another meal left over but was served on an elegant, raised dish so it was not just a barbaric plate of meat or cumbersome on a small table for two. That was a nice touch. The salmon was perfectly tender and the medallions were beautifully cooked, both of which easily could have been dry since the meal provides a variety of five small portions. All of this was delivered by the sweetest, top-notch server who made helpful suggestions and remained enthusiastic through questions about substitutions. Thank you for a delicious, charming date night - we will certainly be back!
