DINE ABOVE BANFF Anchored at over 2,200 meters above sea level, the Banff Gondola’s Sky Bistro sits on the summit of Sulphur Mountain. With six Rocky Mountain ranges as a backdrop, this remarkable restaurant promises an exhilarating gondola ride followed by a mountain top dining experience. Lunch and dinner menus celebrate the panorama of Canadian cuisine, with ingredients drawn from both ocean coasts, plus wholesome prairie staples including world-renowned Alberta beef. Complemented by local wine, beer and spirits, it makes for a unique dining experience above Banff.

    We really enjoy this experience, we did the Chefs tasting and we love it, I took my parents and my fiancée and they told me that they never had that experience before having such a wonderful dinner in a beautiful environment, the views of the mountains makes you feel so overwhelmed in joy, and James really did his job take care of us and giving us really good recommendations! We’ll come back for sure in the near future.

    We had an anniversary dinner reservation at Sky Bistro which we expected to be a high-end, elevated experience. There were multiple tables of loud children and the manager did not ask the adults to quiet them. I could not hear the server or my husband because of the noise. The worst was a table of 12...6 adults and they sat their 6 kids together.... the adults drank and ate and ignored how loud their kids were. Then they let the kids run around and play on multiple floors of the nightrise exhibit while they sat in the restaurant and drank.

    The food was spectacular. My husband and I went here for nye thinking the best part of the night would be the view from the restaurant and we ended up finding one of our favourite restaurants. Everything we ate was full of flavour, nicely plated, and they were fun and interesting dishes. If we lived closer this would be somewhere we would come to dine often! Thanks for a great experience and great service!

    Ordered the beef rib and it was very poor not worth $60 at ALL made me and my mother sick and have a foul reaction in my stomach and service was very slow and not as responsive as you would think for the high prices you’re paying for food

    The house bread was some of the best bread I’ve ever had. The bison dish was mind blowingly delicious. For the price of what I pay for hibachi back home.

    I made the reservation more than a month in advance and sent a message asking them to reserve a table by the window. the answer was that they could not promise but would do their best. When I arrived, I asked again, but all the tables by the window were taken. 10 minutes after, a table by the window was available, and right after 3 more tables. I asked the server to move us, and then the hostess said they could not move us because if they did it everyone in the restaurant would ask the same. Her excuse doesn't make any sense, as the tables by the window were for 2 and most of the other tables in the restaurants were with 4 or more people. The food was disappointing as well. Not sure if the staff is just lazy or if a management problem.

Every party that comes into our restaurant hopes for a table by the window to take in the stunning views. Unfortunately, there are just not enough window tables to accommodate all our guests.     Service is great. The food overall is okay and very overpriced, you essentially pay for the view. Highly recommend going from 11am to 2pm so you have a view. It doesn’t make much sense to go at night.

    You pay for the view and not much more; meal was not impressive. Would not revisit. One and done.
