Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo is a Japanese-inspired restaurant using primitive wildfire cooking methods highlighting seasonal ingredients from Japan and the Tahoe region.    

Our Executive Chef, Tyler Burges, hails from notable restaurants such as Michael Mina, Angler, and the esteemed Saison and is driven by seasonality and innovation. 
Nestled in the breathtaking surroundings of Lake Tahoe, it offers an unforgettable dining experience with views of the open kitchen and wood-burning hearth. 


Please note, we are unable to accommodate vegans or celiacs within our restaurant. If you have any specific dietary restrictions, allergies, or aversions please contact us via email at info.smokedoor@gmail.com.

    Truly a great experience. I was told that the Smoke Door restaurant was outstanding and nowadays that could mean on that given night they got it right. But to be truthful it was all and more than what I was expecting. Food was on point, service also. We did the ten course taster menu chose not to do the drink paring as we were driving 20 oz of alcohol is too much for me. I really liked the atmosphere for such a high end restaurant the service wasn’t stuffy and the staff were very friendly and explained the courses and answered all of our questions. Will definitely return.

    It was my husband’s birthday and we have been trying to get in for a while. It is well worth the wait! I am a horrible food snob and the food and service was transcendent, truly! We were born and raised in SF but had not been to Saison. Tyler Burges has a really unique vision for food and service it is perfectly executed here and we soo appreciate it! Our server was lovely and everyone else was as well! As an aside, we had returned from Italy the month prior and we really noticed the service and the pride that Italians feel with their jobs and it felt like we were transported to another country at Smokedoor. The aesthetics are gorgeous also! We did the 6 course menu and the only thing I didn’t love was the pork belly (but I never like pork belly- lol)! We will definitely be back.

    An experience meal for sure. 10 course tasting menu was outstanding and the drink paring was also excellent. Not inexpensive, but worth the money for a special occasion. Staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Will certain return.

    They were great, contacted us ahead of time to check on any food allergies and if we had a special occasion. The food was perfect and unique. I’ve had sushi all over the world. This ranks up there with my top three!

    Amazing dinner with great personal service. Very interesting flavor combinations with that subtle hint of smoke in everything! highly recommended for a special dinner outing.
