Sociale (say - "SO-SHEE-AH-LAY!") was born in the bistros of Florence and raised here in Presidio heights. Laughter and Italian music are heard floating up from the star-lit, heated patio greeting you from the discreet garden alley below. Families and friends leaving the frenetic pace of the city behind can experience a lighter and decidedly more Italian mood celebrating in our new private dining room, the traditional room or on the patio as the irresistible scents of warm pastas, herb-infused meats, and the sweet honey and nut coated sfingi with vanilla bean gelato shake permeate the surrounding space. Bewitching and eclectic wines from Italy and California complement the weekly changing menus that Chef Julio Mis crafts with joy and delight for our neighborhood friends!

Poor service - I asked to take 1/2 of my eggplant home but the bus boy never brought it back. I did not remember till I got to my car. Felt like we were being rushed out.

An absolute treasure of a local, neighborhood restaurant. The food is terrific, the service personal, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The duck papperdelle never fails to deliver. Great wine list.

Impeccable service, food and a great selection of wonderful wines as always. Our go to restaurant for a lovely, relaxed dinner for the two of us or with family and friends. We always feel well taken care of, warm and welcomed.

Get another great meal. The only thing better than the food was the service. The burrata on sliced citrus was delicious and perfectly seasoned; the polenta fries were the best I’ve ever had; the brussels sprouts with kale chips were both delicious and beautiful, and the fried olives were almost as flavorful as the mushroom risotto, which was particularly excellent. The beet starter was also delicious and exceptionally prepared. The halibut special with pomegranate relish was perfectly cooked, with both excellent flavor and beautiful presentation over red cabbage. We barely had enough room for the duck pappardelle, always spectacular and worth a detour. Chocolate cake and profiteroles punctuated a most excellent meal. Combined with fine wine from the Napa Valley, we couldn’t have been happier.

Disappointed. We have often enjoyed Sociale for a night out, but not Tuesday evening. We waited over an hour between our first course and main, having to wave down a waiter to point out we hadn't received our meal. The special pork was excellent, the Caesar salad over-dressed, the game hen unremarkable. Water glasses were never refilled. We poured our own wine as no one came by. The sommelier was uninterested. And it was to be a special evening as it was my husband's 85th. Sociale fell short by all measures.

Year after year we’ve come here for superb service and excellent meals. In addition the ambience is warm and inviting. It always feels like a special evening without any pretension. Thank you!
