Meet Sorella, a spirited new Italian restaurant from the team behind Acquerello. Grounded in tradition but contemporary in style, Sorella is a convivial restaurant and bar from a group of deeply passionate hospitality professionals that value warmth and gracious hospitality.

With a dynamic kitchen led by Seth Turiansky, overseen by our esteemed Executive Chef Suzette Gresham and an innovative cocktail program highlighting many of the unique spirits of Italy, Sorella is an exciting addition to the Bay Area culinary scene. Located at the crest of Polk, Sorella incorporates the history and legacy of Italy into a vibrant, modern-day bar and restaurant.

    In celebration of New Year's Eve, Sorella will be offering a luxurious multi-course dinner for $150. When booking your reservation, you will be charged a deposit of $75 (+tax) per person. This reservation fee will be applied to the final bill upon completion of your meal. For a full refund of your reservation fee, we require a minimum of 72 hours advance notice for cancellations or adjustments to your reservation.

    The food here was great however service was pretty mid. Could tell our waiter was ready to get out…he didn’t really explain dishes when we asked for what his favorites were. Hostess was really sweet so kudos to her. The vibe and setup is nice, but was super disappointed by our waiter.

    Honestly very disappointed - very expensive and not tasty. Every dish was boring or just bad, service was very weird. Did not enjoy.

    The food as always was wonderful and the host was warm and friendly. Service was off compared to our many previous visits. Had to flag people down to get a wine refill, get salt, etc and check backs as food arrived were minimal. Warm appetizer arrest the same time as a cold salad—wish the server ha suggested timing those differently. Noise at first was awful. Music was so loud we could have a conversation sitting next to each other; host graciously adjusted it when we asked and then it was much better and much more cozy and comfortable. Restaurants, please: we dine out as much to enjoy one another’s company as your food and atmosphere. One should enrich the experience of the other. Finally, please consider candles or small table lights, not just to ease ordering but to give a softer feel to the whole room. The cool dim distant lighting in Sorella does the beautiful space and wonderful food a disservice.

    Sorella was lovely. The kitchen was open and visible, which I love. The servers were so very friendly, attentive and informative. Menu was creative and everything was SUPER YUMMY. Beautiful cocktails (very small portions for cocktails but not a huge negative for me). I went with 2 others and they were also both very happy with their meals and cocktails. I recommend and would go again.

    Service was glacial. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. After 20 minutes of being ignored I stopped the hostess and asked her to send us our server. Another 5 minutes passed. The server then arrived and glumly took our order. Ten more minutes passed before our cocktails arrived. Food was quite uneven. Asked for olive oil with the bread, we got butter. Asked again for olive oil. Ten minutes later the olive oil arrived. Meatballs were cool, hard and flavorless. General manager then appeared at our table to offer an empty apology for the delays…

    On a repeat visit, Sorella continues to please us. From the Kay, the hostess, to the waitstaff, to the chef, they all made us feel welcomed. All the food was artfully prepared and delicious. The cocktails were expertly prepared and creative. If you want to give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

    Sorry but this was a complete mess. Several of the pastas were overcooked, and the desserts were not enjoyed by any. Charging premium prices for Cal-Italian that needs a lot of work.
