Moderate dinning experience. Family style dishes, food items we ate was good but wasn’t outstanding. Gave it a try!
Beautifully designed new restaurant in Inglewood. A little hard to find as you could easily pass by the named door but we did see a sign pointing to its entrance. Be aware this location has been redesigned but it leads directly up stairs (unknown to me for easy accessibility).
Welcomed quickly, our waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered beef tartare, marinated Broek Berkshire pork, and SOT rice with the add-on of red fox fungi mushrooms. We got the items on a timely manner with free side dishes. Sides dishes we received were fresh kimchi, marinade braised peanuts and sweet braised beef. Later we got refills and one diff to replace the beef was a cold mashed sweet potato+raisin.
Beef tartare - 5.5/10, good bite. The beef pieces was cut in small chucks, lightly seasoned. Asian pear sticks had the subtle sweetness it needed. Seaweed was seasoned well however eating it all together the seaweed took over the flavours from the tartare and masking it. Overall okay, not my favourite and it felt like it was missing a component to want more.
Pork - 7.5/10 wonderfully tender and charred for smokiness. Enjoyed this dish as the dressed lettuce on the side complemented the pork. For the slices to be pre-cut, most were still stuck together. We did not receive a knife, so we used the other utensils we got to separate them apart. Still enjoyed the flavours overall.
SOT rice with mushroom - 6/10, normal slightly buttered rice. Understandably well cooked for being freshly made rice. I was excited since it came in a small stone pot but the waiter mixed and portioned the rice into our bowls (seen at another tables too). Wished we could keep the stone pot at the table as I love having crispy rice from the bottom or scooping it slowly to keep it warm.
Dinner was good but nothing stood out to us. Would try again for different dishes.
