Discover Soul Mama, an immersive dining & music experience blending the vibrant culinary traditions of Africa, the Caribbean and South America. Listed in the Evening Standard’s "Top Restaurants to Look Forward to in 2024,"

Launched by acclaimed musician and broadcaster YolanDa Brown OBE DL with music manager and creative entrepreneur Adetokunbo “T” Oyelola, Soul Mama is not just a restaurant but a celebration of music and food. Through a record-breaking crowdfunding campaign, Soul Mama became a Guinness World Record Holder as the largest Kickstarter-funded restaurant globally.

Under the inspired direction of Executive Chef Aleandro Brown, Soul Mama’s menu celebrates a rich fusion of flavours that transports diners on a culinary journey. His passion for cooking was cultivated in Jamaica, learning from Grandma's kitchen. He has honed his expertise across prestigious kitchens, from The Ritz to Gordon Ramsay's establishments.

                                    We were a party of 15 celebrating a birthday. The party was split into two tables with some guest having to share with non-party guests. Due to the party size our food had to be pre-ordered to make things easier on the day. This did not happen! There was still major confusion between peoples food orders there were mains arriving on the table before starters. Guests that never received any food, food that never arrived. I understand there were a lot of staff on trial shifts on the day which may have lead to some confusion. The wings were very tasty for those that received them. The live music and DJ on the day provided a great atmosphere. I would return but would need to have better service and organisation on the day.

                                    The music aspect of the evening was fantastic. However the food was a different matter. I observed the chef picking up the wings with his hands. The food was warm not hot. The plantain was uneatable. The rice had a strange taste like it was going off. I think that your servers need to be trained in how to serve food . Holding the rice bowl and having you hand over it is unacceptable. Leaning over guest is unacceptable. There is a correct way to serve food. Have a small trolly would help. Also seating large groups bearing to the serving area would make like easier for the servers. And finally ensuring that all charges are made clear on your marketing material. But overall the music was fantastic and made up for our dining experience.

                                    We were so looking forward to dining at soul mamma venue on valentines night but were taken to a room upstairs for our meal instead of the live music area. I found the man on the door quite rude when I queried this as it was not clear on their website that you had to buy a ticket for the live music! Many others had made the same mistake! The room upstairs couldn’t cope with the diners and delivered starters that were cold twice, we didn’t have cutlery to eat the starters and ended up leaving as the service etc was awful!

                                    Dear Sharon, Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry that your Valentine’s Night experience didn’t meet expectations. Access to the live music required a separate ticket, and while we made efforts to communicate this, we recognise that it wasn’t as clear as it should have been. We’ll be reviewing how we improve this going forward. We also apologise for the service issues in the upstairs dining area, including delays, cold food, and missing cutlery. This is not the standard we strive for, and we’re addressing it with our team.
