South Bay Fairfield (formally 55 Wine Bar & Wood Grille) is the creation of the Siguenza family, owners of JS Restaurant Group.

Our concept was designed to bring to Fairfield a place where people could find the ideal meeting place where everyone feels welcome and leaves feeling satisfied. My wife and I had a lovely evening dining at South Bay for the first time. The food and drinks were outstanding, and the place has a fun vibe; upscale enough for a special occasion (there was a birthday, a first date, and parents visiting their college student around us) but relaxed enough for a spontaneous night out like ours was. We will definitely be back, with friends!

The atmosphere was pleasant although we visited on a Tuesday night so business was slow. The food was a disappointment . We tried the tacos, tuna tartare and eggplant parm. Nothing seem unique nor did it taste homemade (vs processed). The drinks were ok but not worth ordering a second round. As sated it was a Tuesday night, but the service was really poor. The waiter spent most his time on the phone and empty plates remaining our table until we just move them to an empty adjacent table. Maybe we caught them on a bad night but we won't return given so many other better alternatives.

Great location and feeling (vibe). Busy with full crowd .. but not a lot of noise. We were able to sit outside in front patio area. Nice view of trains arriving/departing, etc. The foods was excellent. Best Gnocchi w/ bolognese that I will order every time we return! All other entrees received the same review. And if you are a fan of Bourbon Old Fashions ... they have a special one on the menu! HIGHLY RECOMMEND for couples or groups!

The food? It was edible. The service? It was indifferent. Nothing was bad enough to submit a complaint, but not good enough to return or recommend.

Very willing to accommodate our table request. Drinks were delicious and food was tasty. Steak was perfectly cooked. Sister enjoyed the branzino. Burrata and mussels were also a flavorful start. Desserts were worth the order. Staff was helpful to each other and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. Would recommend!
