The Sou'Wester Restaurant and Gift Shop began in 1967 as a small five table tearoom at the side of a house at its present location. It has been expanded over the last five decades to a 180-seat restaurant offering traditional Maritime and seafood dishes, and a two-level gift shop with one of the Maritimes largest selections of giftware. Today, more than 50 years later, The Sou'Wester is still run by the family of its founder, Jack Campbell.

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and were very happy with the peacefulness at that hour and this time of year, More guests were venturing inside to eat as we were about ready to depart, We are always very happy and relaxed and surprised at how many people were around even on a cold windy day,

We came because it is at the lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove. We discovered superb service, great food and reasonable prices. This is a gem.

Food is good. Portions could be slightly bigger for the price. Service always excellent (well done, Tammy). During the tourist season large influxes of bus tours from the cruise ships are common. As a result we usually reserve a table ahead of time and are usually glad we did. Seafood chowder is excellent but a very small portion served in what is essentially a deep saucer. Good hamburgers.

Great gift shop! As for the restaurant, the food was pretty good but I only gave it three stars because the Lobster Roll was served on a cold soggy bun. Most good Lobster Rolls are served on warm bread or toasted bread. I couldn't believe they served it this way. It was too cold and soggy, although the lobster meat was good. The Strawberry Rhubarb pie was fabulous!

The same staff for years. Translates into poor service. The same menu for years. You would think the food would be perfected by now. Nope. The view is spectacular though over the Atlantic Ocean at Peggy’s Cove.
