We frequently dine out and enjoy everything from casual food trucks to Michelin-starred fine dining. Typically, I leave only positive reviews and remain silent for poor experiences. However, I feel compelled to warn others about this restaurant.
This was the most expensive meal of our time in Maui, and unfortunately, also the most disappointing. We ordered the Tomahawk steak, lamb, risotto, fish of the day, and several other dishes (opting to order à la carte rather than the prix fixe menu). We also tried a variety of cocktails.
The Tomahawk steak was over-seasoned and poorly executed. A great piece of meat only needs thoughtful preparation, and this was neither well-prepared nor elegantly served. The lamb was strangely both overcooked and undercooked, it was fatty and unpleasant. The risotto, while the only dish with decent flavor, was undercooked. The fish of the day tasted fishy and lacked finesse in its preparation. Even the cocktails were unbalanced and unremarkable; we returned three untouched and the server didn’t ask why.
While the ingredients were high-quality, the execution was severely lacking. It felt as though the kitchen was overcompensating—trying too hard to impress but failing to deliver. One member of our party summed it up perfectly: “It’s like jangling keys and expecting people to mistake the sound for opera.” We really wanted to like this meal, and worked hard to find positives. We could not.
With such a high price tag, the experience was not just underwhelming—it was a waste of time and money. The ambiance may be lovely, but it ends there. Clearly they don’t always miss, as other reviews were positive (which brought us here) but the disconnect was vast. We got take out after this meal as we couldn’t eat enough to be full. We left four entrees untouched except for initial tastes. So many great places in Maui - sad this one wasn’t one of them.
