After seeing these guys all over social media we were excited to try their Sunday roast. It seems odd however to have a set menu price but 60% of the options had a supplement cost (beef and chicken, which are expected to be part of the cost!)
The service unfortunately let us down the most. Our drinks orders were taken and took 25 minutes to arrive, we could see our drinks sitting on the bar waiting to be brought to us, and could see members of staff standing and chatting nearby. It took the barman to come and deliver to us eventually. They forgot our water altogether.
When our food arrived, none of the additional sides came with it. It took us 5 minutes to get anyones attention on this, and no apology for us waiting. The food was overall of a decent standard, the chicken was lovely, the yorkshires were great and overall everything was cooked well, aside from the beef which was so raw in places that it was inedible. In fairness to the staff, they offered us free drinks on the house for this.
Our desserts, lemon meringue tart and filled choux, arrived very quickly, and sadly, we were very disappointed in these. The meringue was sloppy and uncooked, the pastry completely soggy and barely a taste of lemon. The dessert was very disappointing.
For over £90 for 2 courses, a glass of wine and a soft drink, we did expect better, and we certainly expected the service to be much better, too. There were so many tables nearby that were left uncleared for a long period of time, the bar was covered in collected dirty glasses, and yet the restaurant wasn't very busy at all. The couple who were sat next to us were clearly having issues too and we heard that they were also given free drinks as they were forgotten.
There is a lot of potential with this place but unfortunately it just doesn't hit the mark. I hope they are early days teething issues but sadly not somewhere we will return and not somewhere I would recommend.
