Designed by Rockwell Group, TAO Downtown offers a distinct sense of arrival and discovery and is the first TAO venue where guests descend into a multi-level space. The subterranean restaurant, located in the heart of Chelsea, is intended to look and feel as if it has been there for decades and only unearthed recently to reveal the artifacts within. Upon arrival, guests immediately encounter a long corridor with a dragon scale patterned screen and Chinese calligraphy murals mounted on weathered brick walls.

    I honestly can't remember a restaurant being so accommodating and patient with a fairly large group of people like this b4. May because of the timing given that the holidays just passed and it wasn't PACKED like it would be on a regular night. But everything (other than them sour drinks) was suppurb. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

    It’s an unique experience. The place is one of the most impressive that I’ve ever seen. Every detail is well designed. And of course… it wouldn’t be the same without the delicious food! Great variety, good portions, amazing taste and honestly… I think that contextually, the prices are really good!! Looking forward to going again!

    Poor customer service One of the dinner guests forgot their ID and were refused entry by security as well as the manager. Staff was not friendly nor accommodating. We were seated at a coffee table for dinner and felt very rushed. I am not happy with Tao

    Great outing on NYE for our party of 8, food was great and so was the service. Service made the night.

    The food was seriously 10/10 but the service was so bad. We didn’t talk to the same server once and we had ask literally 5 separate times for the check.
