A 16-foot Buddha, which floats above a reflecting pool filled with Japanese carp, presides over the scene at Tao. A favorite destination for celebrities and athletes, this Pan Asian restaurant specializes in authentic Hong Kong Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines. Tao has three levels of dining including the prized "Skybox" which offers views of this former movie theater unparalleled in New York. In addition to its 300 seats, Tao includes a sushi bar, lounge and two bars at which to enjoy the food and the show. Appetizers range from $8 - $18; Entrees: $16 -$39.     I requested a booth prior to arrival. I got seated at the table by the kitchen. I asked to be move to a booth which there were several available. My family and I left the table to go back to waiting area to patiently wait for table. I was then lied to by the host in saying at first it’s policy to only sit 5 people to a booth and then say it’s at the host discretion. I am seated across from a booth where there are three people sitting having dinner. This was a slap in the face, lastly our server took our initial order and never came back for like twenty minutes. My daughter and I wanted to order more food but were unable to get more food. I have been to many restaurants but this was the worst treatment I have ever received. I wish I got every penny I spent back this was the worst unsatisfactory, terrible birthday dinner.

    Service was outstanding. The only downside was they would not accommodate us for a booth. Front desk receptionist stated we needed 5 in our party and we only had 4. However, after seating us, we were staring at a booth across from our table with 4 people. That set a negative tone for me on our New Year’s Day dinner. Additionally, we had reservations.
