My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner at a casino for Chinese New Year's Eve since we didn’t feel up to cooking. We made a reservation through Open Table for 6:15 PM (Tuesday) and, upon arrival, we noticed it was quite calm. Unfortunately, we were greeted by a hostess who seemed a bit stern and lacking warmth, which set a rather underwhelming tone for the evening.
While we were seated at a table with a nice view of the freeway, which we enjoyed, the overall atmosphere felt a bit cold. Our server, although efficient and attentive with our orders and check, also had a somewhat distant demeanor. It’s a bit surprising considering you expect a warmer experience at fine dining, even in a casino setting.
I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Linguinie, but sadly, it didn't meet my expectations. The dish had a bit of a fishy smell, the shrimps was overcooked by both of our opinions. My boyfriend, on the other hand, enjoyed his Prime Rib, which was great to see.
Overall, we found the experience to be a bit disappointing, but the highlight of the night was spending time together. We discovered that the smoking area had a more exciting vibe compared to the non-smoking area, although we did leave smelling like smoke, which we weren’t thrilled about since we don’t smoke.
While we had a nice time out together, we might think twice before returning to the restaurant. It’s a mixed bag of experiences, but we’re grateful for the time spent together.
