Tempest has been named the country’s #1 new restaurant by readers of USA Today’s travel guide, 10Best. Located on historic Market Street next to sister location, Church and Union Charleston. Tempest features hyper-local, sustainable Coastal Modern-American food, with a seasonal menu curated by Chef Adam Hodgson and Bravo Top Chef Alum Chef Jamie Lynch.

                                            Food was excellent. The entrees in the NYE menu were fabulous. Service was a bit rude and has gone downhill since they first opened. Doesn’t feel like fine dining service anymore (we’ve been at least 6 times over the years), but food is still yum and one of my favorite desserts in Charleston.

                                            We love this restaurant, we always eat here whenever we are in Charleston. The set up menus for the New Year wasn’t good, and didn’t with the set up price we paid.

                                            The food was ok. I ordered the steak, the taste was good, but it is a lot smaller than in the picture and the fries that came w with were a little bit salty. The carbonara pasta was salty too. Portions are small and plates don’t come with sides. Reservation was for birthday and I thought they’ll give you at least an ice cream or a dessert because the party, but Nope, if you don’t pay for it, you don’t get it.

                                            Amazing experience all around—the ambiance, the staff, the drinks and most especially the food! I will be thinking about the mushroom bolognese for a long time, it was truly delicious!

                                            If you’re ever in Charleston, this is a must-visit spot! The roasted mushrooms appetizer and the short ribs entrée were absolutely incredible—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. My family and I also enjoyed an array of other dishes, including the unique Swordfish Schnitzel, the rich and tender Steak Au Poivre, and a perfectly creamy Spaghetti Carbonara. We ended our meal on a high note with the decadent “Some More” dessert. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. If I return to Charleston, this place will be at the top of my list!

                                            This was our second time visiting Tempest and it was a as wonderful as the first. Service on Christmas Eve was top notch, from the server to the manager and everyone in between. The food was delicious, especially the short rib and the flounder. What else can I say? Get to Tempest and you won’t be disappointed!

                                            excellent meal on Christmas eve. server, Grace, very knowledgeable and friendly. food was delicious with varied menu, imaginative dishes, fantastic flavors in all that we ordered. highly recommend the "swordfish schnitzel". we have now been here 3 times, each one a winner!!

                                            We arrived late into town due to an hour long traffic hazard delay and we’re worried about getting a reservation to a great restaurant. We were able to dine at Tempest and it was incredible! We had the tuna crude which was very good but the showstopper was the Swordfish Schnitzel with warm tartar sauce with trout roe. I/we are known as foodies-originally from California Bay Area! My husband said this was by far the best swordfish he had ever eaten! I agreed but was trying to identify the ingredients to prepare at home. We shared a bottle of wine and had the Some-More for dessert. Fabulous! Our server Dalton and his shadowing trainee, Megan were amazing as well! Truly a beautiful restaurant and amazing experience!, Do not miss it when in Charleston!
