I have mixed feelings about this place, in it's current state (Nov. 2024).
I have been here many times before the current management. I liked the previous menu quite a lot, the restaurant was a place for special occasions for us.
The new management and menu. First of all the food and drink we had was very good, nice presentation, high quality, probably as fresh as you could expect. All of the staff were very polite and professional, no complaints there. Everyone was very nice and worked hard.
I offer these negative(ish) comments in the hope that they will be helpful to management as I would like to see this place survive.
Our dinner included no appetizers, three drinks, salads, entrees and shared dessert. All that cost us close to $220. As good as the food was we do not think it was a $220 experience.
We mentioned the difference in menus to the waitress and she said they were responding to the tastes of the area (that is also when we found out about the change in management).
I don't doubt that the restaurant staff believes what the waitress said but I am very skeptical of that reality. That part of the State is working class people, they aren't going to spend that kind of money for two people. This is not Silicon Valley or San Francisco. The money comes from people like us, retired, traveling, a little money to spend on a nice dinner while we enjoy our time on the road, tourism.
The menu itself was heavy on vegetables and fruit. Almost every item had a vegan option, a little heavy on the vegan angle as far as we were concerned.
Every menu item used the most complex possible method of explaining what was in the item. We felt like they were using big words to justify the cost, it was annoying.
Drop the vegan focus. You can note it one time on the menu, not for every item, we don't need to be clubbed with it. Get another one or two meat entrees and a normal salad.
