Located inside The Westin Tempe, Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits cleverly combines the bold, rustic flavors of Arizona and the Southwest for breakfast, lunch, dinner or private events. Food and desserts overall, uninspired, lacked any good flavor, and disappointing. Food server rarely checked on us, we’d only get his attention if he happened to walk by. Dirty dishes would pile up on our table. They were not busy! My bad for thinking it was a good idea to go out for Thanksgiving.

Had a reservation today at 10:45 AM. Got there on time. Was told by the hostess that breakfast is over and they’re closed. I told her I had a reservation that I confirmed via text yesterday. She said she saw our reservation. I’m not sure why they did not call/text to let me me know that they’re closed during the reserved time. She did not accommodate and turned us out. It’s unfortunate because we just flew in from out of state and this was our first stop. I suggest connecting with OpenTable to update the service hours and to let future customers know if they booked during the closed time.

As someone who once worked in service, it pains me to leave a poor review. The staff was very friendly, which makes this even more difficult, but our group’s experience was ridiculous. So here comes in inner Karen. They were out of several items listed on the menu: the main two dishes we went there for when brunch was just starting, Tito’s (how?), out of the two champagnes for the mimosas, and when my friend ordered an espresso martini the server said the line was long at the espresso bar and couldn’t do it. What? We thought we were being pranked when we were told it was our fault we came on a busy weekend. It was a Saturday morning! We weren’t even at halftime yet for the weekend! I know that this will likely fall on deaf ears, but this place has a ton of potential, so it’s unfortunate that it’s unrealized.

Terra Tempe’s service as usual was extremely good and the staff was very courteous and friendly. I have been there consistently since their doors open, I was disappointed in the Mexican Prawns this years. I frequently order them but this time they dumped so maany hot pepper flakes into the dish that not only I but every one at our table had a hard time eating; way to spicy. Many of the dishes have been high quality and we love them but someone got carried away with the heat. The chicken sandwich was excellent and the chicken and dumplings was poor. This was a new menu just started a couple days prior to our arrival. I know they have the abilities to prepare much better food than we received on this night.

Several items on the menu were either not available or the style of cooking and sides had changed. Other than that it was very nice.

The food was good and the cocktails delicious. I like the atmosphere it’s quiet and not too loud or crowded. Special shout out to our server Rayana. She made the whole experience amazing, she went above and beyond. She’s warm, friendly and professional. I can’t say enough good things about her.
