Founded in 1911 as a small ice cream and candy shop in the heart of Downtown Mount Vernon, The Alcove offers the finest dining experience in Central Ohio. Our diverse menu includes steak and seafood favorites as well as our signature Prime Rib of Beef available Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Within feet of one-of-a-kind shops, just a block away from The Grand Hotel, across the street from The Woodward Opera House, and a few miles from Kenyon College and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, our establishment is a great location for gathering with loved ones young, elderly, and in between.     Normally, we love the Alcove. However, they sat us by the bar, thus the noise. Would have been fine but the service was terrible. The bartender/waitress kind of gave off the vibe like we were bothering her. Drinks kept going empty for extended periods. Soup and salad came out very late. We had to ask for every thing that they forgot to bring to the table. This was just very unexpected for the Alcove and the price point. Food was good though.

    Our experience was way better than expected. The ambience was wonderful. The food was wonderful and the service was wonderful. Highly recommended and we will definitely come back for more. Thank you. Staff and management of the Alcove for a job well done! JM. Mckitrick

    Steak soup of the day was delicious. Rib eye was grilled perfectly. Our server, Holly, always does a great job!

    Some of the best food we ever had, And some of the nicest people between the bartender, the service and the hostess was top-notch. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

    Service at the Alcove is the best of any restaurant I’ve experienced in Central Ohio (including Columbus). Innovative menu, great cocktails, delightful high-end atmosphere without being pretentious. They deserve your trade.

    We will be going back, but probably won't have cocktails or wine because we feel the prices are too high for that. The food was very good, only bad thing is when we got our bill I saw that we were charged $40 for 2 Gin martinis. We asked for the house Gin & our waitress gave us a list of 4 to choose from, we were not told that it would be higher than the menu price of $14.00 each which we think is pretty high already.
