Recently refurbished, The Alfred Tennyson has built its reputation as a gem in the local community of Belgravia. Filling the grand Georgian townhouse there is something to discover on every floor bringing much-needed vibrancy and footfall to Motcomb Street. Whether you are having a couple of drinks in the relaxed ground floor pub, bringing your family together in the more formal and elegant dining room or hosting a private event in the intimate Boardroom.

    The fourth and final instalment of the Cubitt House Eats With series brings MasterChef 2018 finalist and Head Chef at Maison François, Matthew Ryle, to The Alfred Tennyson. Known for his refined yet approachable cuisine and mastery of classic French recipes, Matthew will curate a three course feast served around shared dining tables in the main restaurant. Guests will enjoy a welcome drink courtesy of Hayman's Gin and take home a signed copy of Matthew’s cookbook. Tickets are £75, with an optional wine flight available on the day. A discretionary 15% service charge is applied to the final bill.

    Made reservations, showed up - our waiter was great. And then they informed us they were out of probably 85% of their menu. You could have steak or steak tartare. 😳 very disappointing.

    Food was great but when I booked I was given a choice of bar or restaurant but when we arrived we were put in the bar which was busy and noisy and cramped. I was told they sit people where they can depending on how busy they are. That's fine if you're aware.

    Service was great, but the food wasn’t prepared. Two ordered the beef cheeky that wasn’t flake, fall apart, it was very tough. Chip cold, and with a new batch; they were undercooked.

    It was always our London go to, no more. Food was bad, cold, poor quality. Sent one item back. Clearly the current cook staff has no clue how to prepare quality good food. It’s ashamed since the location and setting is so nice. Don’t waste your money here. On a positive note, our server Ellie was wonderful and apologetic for the poor quality of the food.
