Located in Ballantyne Village, The Blue Taj is a groundbreaking restaurant serving Indian Cuisine and a much needed and welcome addition to Charlotte’s dining scene. The Décor at The Blue Taj is chic and modern, yet very cozy and eclectic. There are four themed dining areas to keep the excitement going for each time you visit. A chic wine cellar also graces the floor of the restaurant where vast and popular selections of wines are stored in a good temperature and humidity controlled environment. The Bubble Bar is open nightly to fix your craving for exciting combination of both signature and innovative cocktails and refreshingly sparkling and other popular wines by the glass. The Blue Taj is also a lunch destination in a very popular location. The ample selections of lunch offerings are sure to please business and mainstream diners alike.               This is the best Indian food I have had so far in Charlotte. The menu choices are pretty wide and include meats, seafood, and vegetarian options. They will ask you how spicy you'd like your meal prepared, on a scale of 1 to 5. I ordered saag paneer at a 5. It definitely had heat, but I would put it at a 3. The service is adequate, just not a lot of pizzazz. The ambiance is nice for a restaurant of this type - dark tones, warmly lit, and decent separation between tables. If you want delicious Indian food, priced sanely, in a comfortable milieu, then I recommend The Blue Taj.

              The appetizer of the fried cheese was cold and the waiter said it was supposed to be. We had it warmed up and it was better. You should never order a martini here because they really don’t understand what you want. I ordered a well shaken, grey goose martini with three olives and I knew, when our waiter brought it, that they added olive juice so I sent it back to get a dry martini, well shaken and they brought it out with ice cubes in it. I removed the ice and drank it. The scallop korma had very few scollops and a lot of gravy but the gravy was good. I think their food is not what it used to be and I was disappointed . My friend felt the same. I will be trying other Indian Restaurants because I love Indian Food.

              Third dining experience at Blue Taj. Tried new dishes, including chaat appetizer- best I have ever had. . Each bite was fabulous!

              We have always had a great experience here in the past and have left good reviews, unfortunately this time it was different. While the food was excellent, the service was lacking to put it mildly. I won’t get into details but, will send a private note as I hope this was just an off night or the restaurant addresses since the food here is not inexpensive.

              The food was fantastic. This was our first time there and our waiter Andrew helped steer us to some good dishes. Very knowledgeable about the spice level.. definitely will be back.
