The Canteen is a full-service neighbourhood restaurant in Downtown Dartmouth, serving up chef-inspired seasonal fare for lunch, brunch and dinner. At the helm in the kitchen is award-winning chef and co-owner Renee Lavallee. Her seasonal menus are influenced by classic French, Italian and traditional Nova Scotian cuisine – with a little bit of Renée’s magic thrown in. Signature items include The Canteen Burger, The Crobster Roll, Seafood Chowder and more.

    Was a beautiful way to spend NYE! Loved the offerings, drinks and wine perfectly paired and loved speaking with the chef and owners. Thank you Canteen for making NYE so magical!

    Had a spectacular New Year’s Eve family celebration dinner at The Canteen. Food was amazing as always. Such wonderful flavours and presentation. Service was the perfect balance of being well served without being too intense. Some really good wine recommendations. This was our third year in a row celebrating New Year’s Eve here at the Canteen Highly recommend this great local Dartmouth restaurant.

    It was outstanding in all areas. The service was awesome from start to finish. I was a server on a ship for many years so I know what it takes to give good service. I'm also a very good cook , so when going out with my husband he is fussy, its hard to find a restaurant with good food. You aced it from the start salad we received to creme bur lee, Oh plus the wine!! Thank you for making our date night amazing!!!
