The Cavendish Arms is a 450 year old Coaching inn set in the heart of Cartmel. With Simon Rogan and his famous Lenclume restaurant we have some very high standards to maintain. Our food is fresh and sourced locally to ensure the freshest ingredients are on your plate at all times. Our menu changes often and is always being developed by our very talented Head Chef and his team. Along with a great food offering, we are challenging boundaries with our selection of 25 gins, 10 whiskeys and many more superior sprits, we always try to have an alternative rather than using main stream brands behind the bar, ensuring our guests receive the best possible value for money we can provide whilst experiencing a better than expected product. In short our aim is to make sure you leave having had a memorable time and be wearing a huge smile.

    Starters

    • Red lentil soup, onion bhaji, mint yoghurt

      • Duck liver parfait, apple, bacon & shallot chutney, warm brioche

        • Poached lobster, cod beignets, caviar bisque, tarragon oil

          Main

          • Cartmel Valley venison saddle, braised faggot, honey glazed parsnip, beetroot puree, chard, port jus

            • Monkfish tail wrapped in pancetta, cauliflower puree, charred leek, fondant potato, sherry jus

              • Sweet potato fondants, salt baked beetroot, wild mushrooms, charred leeks, shallot and garlic puree, hazelnut beurre Blanc

                Desserts

                • Cheese board

                  • "Tasting of chocolate" - cremeaux, fudge, white chocolate sorbet, chocolate cookie

                        We do have high expectations! Quaint olde Pub! Excellent service. Delicious exceptional food at a very reasonable price. If staying close to Cartmel you must visit. We thoroughly enjoyed so much that we visited for a delicious breakfast too another day!! All homecooked to order. A definite visit.

                        Food was outstanding! Couldn’t decide on starters so the waiter helped us choose, French onion soup was superb! As was the beef striploin! One of if not the best places we’ve eaten

                        Great staff providing way above average service.With a smile ! Cosmopolitan ,buzzy clientele . Good Choices on the Menu. We had different selection at our table and we all enjoyed the food. A step up from the average pub/ restaurant in the area. It’s well worth a visit.Not least the staff make you very welcome
