The Chalkboard Kitchen + Bar is a cozy restaurant tucked in the lower level of the historic Ambassador Hotel.
Etched in history as one of Tulsa’s most iconic dining experiences, we serve world-class cuisine in a stylish and approachable setting. Executive Chef Daniel Gibbs’ refined culinary techniques bring Euro-American style classics to life with The Chalkboard flavor. Had dinner with my sister who was a guest at the hotel adjacent. Staff was friendly but vacant. Dinner was ordered, served and while mine was fine, beef wellington ordered medium served rare, my sister's dish, grilled chicken over mashed potatoes was cold on delivery. After getting the waiter to bring back the potatoes to be heated properly she waited 20 minutes, and when nothing came back was furious with the service, had the food taken off the bill. She had been traveling all day and hadn't eaten so having this meal screwed up really got on her nerves.

We had reservations yet waited 20 additional minutes for a table. When seated, we waited a ling time for someone to acknowledge our table. I asked the host to remind our waiter we needed water. Food was good, service could be better.

Great service that went the extra mile! Dining room was a bit loud but festive! We moved to high tops at the bar. Great salad, fish and minestrone soup. Perfect winter meal

The food left a lot to be desired especially for the price. The food is good the portion size is just too small for the price point.

Lamb lollipop were ok. Not tender as one would expect. Flavor of the Pistachio crust was fine, sauces that came with the dish were mediocre at best. Our main dishes were the braised short rib and the chicken ballotine. The short rib was tender but lacking depth of flavor and completely covered in a very unnecessary sweet bbq sauce of sorts, it was accompanied by some like warm potatoes that also missed the mark. Finally the chicken ballotine which takes 25 mins to bake (which we informed of) honestly we said since it was made to Order we thought that it would be good but alas the same fate fell upon the chicken. Over cooked not totally but enough where my wife wouldn’t finish it and definitely not what was expected for a 25 min wait. All in all we will lot be returning to The Chalkboard due to the lack experience and value for money.
