Since 2006, multi award winning chef Steven Sanderson has been delighting his customers with a beautiful selection of delicious dishes that offer traditional values with a modern twist.

Come and relax within our 400 year old inn beneath the ancient beams, and enjoy your meal in contemporary decor near an open fire that burns throughout the year.

We opened 9 new boutique rooms in 2019 and these, together with the restaurant, means that The Chequers at Burcot in South Oxfordshire is perfect for those looking for a getaway, a staycation or accommodation for a business trip.

    Fabulous, as always. Quality food, friendly staff and lovely ambience. Drinks served in front of an open fire before being taken to our table.

    Disappointing! £113 spend for a two course lunch with bottled water and soft drinks was not value for money. Lovely setting, friendly service (although waitress changed half way through the meal with no explanation). Food wasn’t great. Fish cake was more a soggy potato cake with a runny dressing, french onion soup was average. Roast chicken was tough and sausages were obviously left over from breakfast service as very rubbery. There was a bitter gravy that I tried to avoid. Burger was delicious but no chips included so charged extra for these. Altogether disappointing experience, very overpriced - no wonder it was empty!

    Once again the team looked after us very well the wood was fantastic. Really enjoyed the scotch egg and salad. First time having that as I normally go for the duck. Lovely little touch being giving a card for our 20 year anniversary. Small but personal touches like that are what make the cheques a perfect place for us.

    My previous review said best steak ever. On this occasion I ordered exactly the same and asked for well done and no redness to the steak atall. It was cooked ok on the outside but very red with blood still showing on the inside. Everything else was good . At these prices like the money I paid was perfect I would expect the food to be perfect. Saying that though ,this is a lovely place and everything else was good

    We had a lovely evening at The Chequers. They seem to have got everything just right - it was busy without being distracting, and the food and service were to a very high standard. We will definitely go back!

    Good main course Desserts we're small.Very little ice cream or lottery cream Coffees were expensive

    Fantastic service. Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch. Wine is quite expensive per glass but good. Will definitely be back again.
