Our restaurant 'The Block House' brings modern & classic British dining to the historic market town of Gravesend. The restaurant and bar combine classic but stylish design, creating a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. With our Admirals bar, river terrace and the Blockhouse restaurant there are many ambiences to enjoy our menus.

Open all day The Clarendon Royal Hotel offers imaginative dining seven days a week. Our head chef and team have lovingly created our menus for your enjoyment. Every item is produced on site from scratch using fresh hand-picked daily produce from local suppliers.

Parking details
We have parking directly opposite the hotel, you will be required to input your car registration details on reception as you enter the hotel. We also have a number of 4 hours bays opposite the hotel and 1 hour bays. After 6pm and all day Sunday you can park directly in front of the hotel on the single yellow line.

Food was good but poached eggs were over cooked and chips were incredibly salty. The service was the most disappointing, even though we booked in advance the table wasn’t ready for us and the staff were quite rude, especially the guy who was very short with us, greeting us with “what do you want?” in a very unfriendly manor.

Fantastic food terrible staff except the manager who was lovely. On entry I went to the bar as no one was about. I was greeted with “yes”, I said I had a table for two booked for 50th birthday. I expected to be shown to a table but she just waved her arm in the air and said, sit where you like. RUDE. No one came to ask if we wanted a drink so again had to go and find someone. I asked the manager for a cocktail menu which he bought me. Still no one came to take my order so I called across to the bar to ask for a cocktail and was told I could only have what was on tap. So I said, what’s the point of giving me a cocktail menu then. I told her the manager gave me the menu, she went off in a huff muttering what sounded like, well I’m not doing it, but I can’t be sure. She came back and said, ok you can have one then, which the manager made for me. Which I might add was lovely. The service didn’t get any better from the waitress’s and bar maid. I pointed out that they had an ant problem as they were crawling over the window sill. I took photos, they said the ants were attracted to my cocktail. Having said all that the food was excellent, so if you don’t mind the attitude of staff it’s worth going for the tasty food. It’s a beautiful setting and lovely building.

We are Ladies that lunch and really enjoyed our time here. So chilled we ended up staying 6 hours just chatting, eating and drinking! Food excellent as was the service! Thank you

Father’s Day treat . Sat in the marquee. Little sparse with features. But a great view over the river . Food was ok but only warm. Service was very good

Food delicious, much higher standard than last time I ate here! The Chefs choice range was better than anything available in the Gravesend area! The only drawback was the limited choice of vegetarian options; there was plenty of choice in the burgers and snacks but only. One Main Meal option. However I’m sure as they expand their upper range this will be remedied The service was excellent and ambience as good as can be managed under present conditions. I hope to return soon!
