I was so excited to finally get a reservation at The Commodore. I reviewed the menu before going and was very impressed with the selection. I made the reservation for 6 PM on Friday 12/13. We were on time and were greeted by a hostess and told they were running a "little" behind our reservation time and invited us to wait in the bar. We were lucky to find three seats, but it was at a side table. Not enough room at the bar. We sat there for over one hour and yes, we kept checking with the hostess to make sure we had not been forgotten. We were not seated until a little after 7!!! We were starving and ask for dinner menu right away. We were given a half a roll with butter and some water. The three of us ordered a steak that included wilted spinach, so we shared a potato dish and two other vegetables. We got the steaks quickly but were disappointed. Everything but the scalloped potatoes were lukewarm and the steak was covered with Bearnaise Sauce. It was disappointing. I felt so sorry for Alyssa, our server. She did her best given the circumstances and I made it clear to her that we did not fault her for the meal but did want to speak to the manager. Anna, the manager came over and was very gracious. She did give us a substantial discount. She also offered a complementary dessert. She explained that due to the holiday, people were lingering longer at the tables and that is why it got so backed up. I suggested that in the future they should consider having two, two-hour seating times in order to avoid the backup. We did not take her up on the dessert offer. It was getting late, and we lived quite a distance away. They handled everything very professionally. Let's hope they take my suggestion. I'm sure our dinner would have been delicious had it been served on time and at the proper temperature.
