Our group had different choices from the Sunday lunch menu and everyone thought the food was good. We were particularly impressed that the appropriate sauces for each meat and a jug of extra gravy was brought to the table just before the meals were served without us having to ask afterwards. Having dined at the Crown before, we knew that the size of the restaurant was not large so on arrival we we dismayed to see a large screen TV was dominating the room showing cricket. We were given the choice of sitting where we liked so given the limitations we sat on a table as far away from the TV as we could. On previous occasions the room was solely used for dining but it now seems that the Crown is becoming more of a drinkers' pub. Again, given the size of the room we found our dining experience marred by foul language and as the numbers increased we felt uncomfortable with people standing drinking around the tables, particularly considering Covid precautions. At one point the smell of cigarette smoke was so strong that we looked around to see if someone was smoking in the restaurant. The smell was actually coming from smokers standing outside the back door but it was being drawn into the restaurant so very unpleasant whilst eating.

We really enjoyed our meal. My husband said the battered fish was the best be had ever had and my only complaint about the fish platter was that I needed someone to help me eat it. It was much too good to leave any so I was really full.

Made the reservation via opentable app which was super easy….really friendly staff and a super tasty meal. All four of us were more than happy with the service and the food. The Ham egg and chips went down so well, as did the lamb bhuna. We had the chicken and avocado salad (I asked for an avocado replacement of eggs which was no problem) what a super tasty salad!! Well worth a visit and we will definitely be returning!!

Good menu choice at a reasonable price. Bar area with tables busy but sat in separate room which was quieter. Would have preferred no ice in my wine spritzer, but it turned up with it in - would have been nice to have been asked. Waiting staff pleasant
