Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. The current dining room experience is an 8-course tasting menu honoring the Mid-Atlantic's bounty. We offer an additional 3-course experience at our bar and bar area tables. Walk-in guests are welcome to enjoy the bar area as well.

The Dabney has been awarded one Michelin star every year since 2017, James Beard Foundation Best Chef Mid-Atlantic for Chef Jeremiah Langhorne in 2018, and Washingtonian Magazine's #1 restaurant in 2023.

At this time we are unable to accommodate severe allium and dairy allergies as well as vegan and vegetarian diets.

The seasonal menu reflects the soul of our beloved mid-Atlantic: with every ingredient representing the history of the region we call home. For this event we are unable to accommodate allium, capsaicin, and dairy allergies as well as vegan diets. A 20% service charge is included in the final bill to ensure our entire staff earns a competitive wage. Gratuity is welcomed but not expected. Any cancellations made under 72 hours of the scheduled reservation time will be subject to the full cost of the 8-course experience.

    Great presentation of the dishes. Great flavor profile, mostly sweet dishes, also lacked in terms of fillingness. Overall maybe it was better to spend my evening at a restaurant with more protein served.

    Fantastic experience. The creative and tasty use of local ingredients was delightful, the wine pairing except for the local VA wine was well chosen, and the servers all loved their jobs and were passionate about the food and dining experience.

    This was a great experience. From the time we walked in until we left the staff were considerably, attentive, and extremely nice. The energy is inviting. The open kitchen was a nice addition to the experience filling the room with warmth. The menu was clearly designed with deep thought and intention. Would highly recommended.

    Food was amazing. Staff was great. Ambience was perfect for the holidays Only minor note would simply be for folks who’ve never done a tasting menu. The portions may small for some people. My wife thought they were perfect, while I left a little bit hungry.

    We had been here about a dozen times over the years, this was the worst experience yet. Having to provide a credit card to hold the table is never a problem for me. But when we arrive promptly on time after having a drink at a bar across the way because you have no bar we could sit at, then make us wait 20 minutes for a table, is unacceptable. The offer was to sit outside in the freezing cold at some tables in the entry way. The food this time was hit or miss, tasting menu was not the great experience we had in the past, couple that with the bad start to the evening and a $900 check, very disappointed. I think had they handled our 20 minute delay a bit better, I may have been able to overcome the mediocre food but we will never know. Our server was good, no issues there, very pleasant and helpful, wasn’t his fault. The hostess and management need to do a better job accommodating people and when you have 3-5 open seats at the bar, our table is late, you should seat us there for that time and at least provide us with a place to spend even more money. Not sure we will go back from a while after this.

    Was disappointed. Food was overly pretentious. Service was attentive but couldn’t get a lime to save my life even though I asked for one for my water three times.. used to love the restaurant but it has completely changed.
