Great food, fine ales, plenty of gin and a friendly atmosphere – what more could you want from a restaurant and country pub! 2024 has seen an extensive £150,000 refurbishment creating a stylish and contemporary restaurant & country pub..

Set in the tiny, picturesque village of Skipwith only ten miles south of York, it is the main destination inn in the area. The delicious created dishes on our menu are locally sourced and reflect the changing seasons, mirroring the wonderful walks to be found through Skipwith Common, right on its doorstep.

    A regular at drovers and every time it is spot on Staff are excellent We are always greeted by staff and Jake and we are made to feel welcome Gluten free food is amazing and Jake and the team are always accommodating in alternatives .

    A wonderful experience from start to finish. A very warm welcome from friendly staff, and continuous attentive service. Food was delicious, tasty, nicely presented and served piping hot. The decor and surroundings make this more than a country pub, it has elegance and class to complete a wonderful evening

    Whether Sunday Lunch or a romantic evening or just a pub meal experience you will not be disappointed as it ticks all the boxes for food, service and that restaurant or pub feeling as it offers both.

    Been here many times and have enjoyed traditional Sunday roast (once) and the seafood sharing platter (many times). Always been a really good meal on here. On this occasion we opted for the Steak Sharing Board (2 x 10oz steaks plus a host of trimmings) for my girlfriend and I, and we weren't disappointed. Simply superb. A little more than we usually spend but happy to advise this is a case of you get what you pay for. Each of the sauces (blue cheese/peppercorn) was spot on as well I don't often leave reviews but this was worthy of me taking the time to come on here and do so. Really did enjoy it Also, must commend the friendly service from the two staff who were dealing with us

    I had the onion bhaji which was mushy and not crispy throughout though I did not complain. My guests had scallops and said they were delicious. I had fish and chips - very good with crispy chips. One of my guests had sea bass and said it was extremely good. My other guest had game pie and found the meat chewy. It was one of my guest's birthday and there was a birthday card on the table. A complementary pudding and decorated birthday plate came to the table - a lovely gesture. Good service let down by ok food.

    We had soup and pigs in blankets for starter and steak sharing board for main. Oh my it was filling. The steak was beautifully cooked one rare and one med/rare. The two steak sauces were a nice touch. Onion rings and chips were to die for. We also ordered a green veg side which was huge. From arrival to leaving we received great service. We will return.

    We love it here, the staff are so friendly and welcoming the atmosphere is super relaxed and the food is insane. We are booked back in next week.

    Visited 5 times with friends and family and each time as excellent as the last. Mum and Dad throughly enjoyed themselves at Sunday lunch and no doubt be back again soon. Worth the money and staff friendly and attentive.
