The Elgin is a bar & restaurant serving upscale fare situated just south of Rockefeller Center & steps from Broadway & Times Square. Our goal is to provide sophisticated cocktails, a carefully curated craft & seasonal beer list, amazing food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Please join us!
The Elgin’s 4 main principals, Peter Pernicone, Darwin Conner, Paul Baum & Christine Trauben, have known each other for 30 years. They all grew up on the lower west side of NYC in Chelsea & had a goal of owning a bar together & could not be more excited about opening The Elgin. As an acknowledgment of their collective history, they named a signature cocktail—the Chelsea 1724—after their neighborhood. Darwin & Paul grew up in Chelsea on 17th St and Peter & Christine lived on 24th St. They are joined by Patrick Callaghan who has been working with Peter for many years.

The food was good, nothing super amazing. My 2 kids split a pizza. It was perfect for them. It was a very busy night. We had a reservation and got seated on time. Service was a bit slow, as far as getting our order taken. Overall a good experience. We would return.

Had an 8:15 reservation, got there at 7. We were able to be seated in the bar area immediately. Loved that! Service after that left a lot to be desired. Also, long Island iced tea is not a recommended drink.

Food was amazing. Tables can be seated really close to each other, which only happens in certain spots. Overall would go back if I could get a different table for a better overall dining experience.

I really enjoyed The Elgin. I took my family here for Christmas Eve dinner. It was their first time being in NYC and they wanted to see the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. The Elgin is a 3 min walk from 30 Rock so it worked out perfectly. The food was amazing as well. I’d say elevated bar food. The Carolina BBQ wings were EXCELLENT, the shrimp tacos were delicious, Salt & Vinegar fries were to die for. We also ordered the calamari and fish & chips which were great as well. The appetizers didn’t miss at all. And the cocktails were Amazing too: a great way to get warm after being out in the cold. I was very happy with my experience there and will definitely go again.

Ambiance was great, as was food and service! Only downfall is how packed in the tables are.
