The French Quarter is a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant & wine Bar in a community of unique and quirky businesses in Newcastle city Centre. We are a friendly and approachable team of people, with a passion for the good things in life. Born from nostalgia for a traditional style of commerce and a desire to challenge perceptions that French dining is formal or fussy, we work with independent suppliers to offer a regularly changing wine list & tapas style menu. We have created a casual and sociable environment where customers are invited to experience our food, try our wines, shop from our deli and share our love of all things French!

    Tucked away close to Newcastle's thousand-year-old castle, the French Quarter is a gem that provides a memorable dining experience. It offers a harmonious blend of exceptional food, warm service, and an inviting ambience. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with French-inspired dishes that highlight a perfect marriage of flavours and freshness. On my visit, I began with an exquisite Rillettes de Porc with some off-menu toasted bread. I followed this with an indulgent Bœuf Bourguignon accompanied by a tangy Gratin Dauphinois and fresh Haricot Vert. The staff were an absolute delight—attentive, friendly, and passionate about their work. They were happy to make recommendations, explaining food combinations with detail and enthusiasm. Every interaction felt personal, adding an extra layer of warmth to my visit. The restaurant offered subtle touches of a French bistro, a cosy yet sophisticated charm. It's perfect for both intimate dinners and lively group get-togethers. It's not budget dining, but the quality of the food, impeccable service, and overall experience justify the cost. Portions are generous, and each dish feels crafted with care. Whether you're a fan of French cuisine or just looking for a memorable culinary experience, the French Quarter delivers on all fronts. I will certainly return.

    This place is lovely with a good range of food and wine. The sharing board was a high and very tasty. The staff were very helpful and friendly. On the negative side whilst my husband found the beaujolais nouveau really good I was disappointed ted bu the wine flight. The wines were not as grand as the price would suggest. For the food the black pudding was a hit whilst the mussels did not have much taste and were supported by the price. Worth a visit or make up your own mind

    Food good as always. In terms of service we received our main course 5 seconds after having finished our starter which whilst being efficient wasn’t what we were looking for on a relaxed night out and not what you expect from a high endish restaurant!

    Our first visit - but hopefully the first of many more! Food outstanding - staff are lovely very knowledgeable regarding menu and wine . The place has a lovely busy vibe without being noisey - a varied mix of couples young and old, families, singles, friends group…. We hope to return soon !

    Fabulous venue, food amazing and staff very effoand engaging. If I visit Newcastle in the future I will definitely consider booking again and would highly recommend it.
