We made our booking through open table for the Golden Fleece in York for Saturday 30th November as our yearly Christmas trip , we had booked this a good few months prior to the date and received a confirmation e-mail on the 29th November which I confirmed and received a e-mail back confirming the booking. We were looking forward to this very much and thought we had our whole day planned, how wrong was we.
After a slight delay with our train we rushed to the Golden Fleece as our table was booked for 2.30 only to be told on arrival that we had no booking, I politely showed the staff member my confirmation from open table and she responded by saying, -‘ oh we have lots of issues with open table, you have no reservation and I suggest you complain to open table ‘
I responded with , I honestly don’t get this I have a confirmation e-mail but your saying I do not have a reservation? The barmaid responded with , we get this a lot the more prople that complain then something will be done about it.
I responded with , why would you use a system that doesn’t link with the Golden Fleece to book tables,
Barmaid responded, sorry we haven’t a table and I can’t chick someone off a table that has a table booked, I responded but I have, I have confirmation.
As I could see we were going round in circles we left the pub bitterly disappointed in open table and the staff at the Golden Fleece.
We had travelled a long way and we were very upset to be just brushed aside
Very poor from open table if bookings are not acknowledged from the Golden Fleece,
We were informed that we should have made the booking through their own website.
All in all very disappointing from open table and the Golden Fleece and will not be recommending this to anyone visiting York .
