Before start, I must say that I am very sad to leave this review. I absolutely love the Good Reader and visiting many times since it has opened.
My husband and I I were excited to hear when they’ve finally opened their kitchen as they were serving only drinks when they’ve finally opened, so we book a table for Sunday roast.
We were very disappointed and dissatisfied. No one came to our table for about 25 min since we sat down so we’ve decided to go to the bar and order from there. They were happy to serve us drinks but said that we need to order food from a waiter. A waiter eventually came to take our order and we received our food an hour after we set down and already had 2 rounds of drinks.
The portions were humiliating for a Sunday roast, the beef arrived cold ( a table next to us send theirs back for that same reason), the potatoes tasted like they were pre cooked and reheated. That said, the chicken was good, it’s just a shame that there was such little of it.
I ate my chicken, my husband kind of ate his plate cause we were both starving and we left hungry to have a sirloin roast at the humble grape.
At no point anyone came to see how are doing, if we’re happy with our food, if we wanted more drinks etc. I had to get up to the bar to order and also to pay cause it was just impossible to pin someone down.
To conclude, we will be back at the Good Reader but probably just for drinks, not food. The atmosphere there is warm and welcoming and the people are lovely so I would recommend it for that purpose. Hopefully this is just a hiccup of the beginning and that they grow from it.
