The Great Western Hotel is famous for their delicious steaks, low & slow cooked meats, burgers, fresh Australian seafood and all the essential eat-out classics!.

Recently crowned Best Steak in CQ, The Great Western Hotel is open for lunch and dinner 5 days per week, Wednesday to Sunday.

LUNCH 11am to 2.30pm
DINNER 5pm to 8.30pm

At the Western we pay homeage to the ‘Beef Capital’ title Rocky is famous for; our locally sourced beef cuts are cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Want Seafood? Absolutely! We are fortunate to be on the door step to The Great Barrier Reef and the wealth of seafood on offer. We showcase the rich flavours of QLD seafood including, prawns, fish and local weekly specials prepared by our chefs.

The animals and arena experience was fantastic. The kids had a blast petting them while waiting for food. It’s not hot in the arena and the insulation does a great job. The food was over an hour wait, and while it was delicious the wait was a little long and steak was slightly overdone. Food Staff could be slightly more welcoming however 1 young lady in particular at the bar was delightful and ensured she had delivered exceptional service.

Booked a table for 2.30pm, when we arrived were told that the kitchen closed at 2.30!! but the chef had stayed back for half an hour so could order (made to feel like we were a real nuisance and he was doing us a BIG favour. I had booked on-line through Open Table and had not seen anything about the kitchen closing at 2.30 and the menu viewed was certainly not the very limited Lunch menu that was offered to us. The food was not enjoyable, the steak in the sandwiches looked and tasted liked it had only been cooked on one side and the chips were cold, I did not enjoy the teryaki chicken with rice. None of us finished our meals. Would not recommend the venue or go back

We waited for almost 2 hours for our food. People who ordered way after us got their food first. The area where we sat was just a tad too dark.

The Adult menu was great, some items on kids' menu not so much. We were seated out the back in the arena area. It was very muggy and hot, even with the giant fans on unless you were directly under it you did not benefit from them. Overall, an enjoyable night, we will be back.

The idea of an all you can eat buffet is a great idea.The food was flavourless&watery, apart from the beef ribs(which were nice)&both times we went up to get food, we were getting the dregs.There were no bread rolls(like advertised)&when we came back from getting our food, our table had been cleared&our brand new drinks had been taken!

We ordered straight after each other. We were given 3 separate buzzers. I think there would have nearly been 30 minutes between the 1st meal coming out and the last 2 coming out. We had to ask about the last 2 twice cause others had almost finished meals. Food was good once we got it. I understand there was an event which is why we booked a table as we were attending it.
