Bringing her personal take on Port City Southern food to a city of her youth is for Chef Mashama Bailey not only a dream come true but it allows her to tap into the full breadth of her skills and experiences. These all come together to create dishes that are deep, layered, and soulful in their flavors while simple and approachable in their presentation. With a penchant for regional produce, seafood and meats, Mashama’s current take on these traditionally southern ingredients reflects the cultural and ethnic melting pot that you find in a port city like Savannah and this style of food is perfectly at home in the beautifully restored Greyhound Bus Terminal.

We loved our date night at the Grey. We had reservations, and were seated immediately. The atmosphere was a little louder than we were expecting though. It was rather difficult to have a conversation. The cheese puff amuse-bouche was an unexpected treat! Wish that would have been on the menu as an appetizer! We started with the Grouper toast. While good, it wasn't anything particularly memorable. It paired pretty well with the Metroliner cocktail. The food was EXCELLENT. My wife ordered the pork, and I ordered the lamb. A note about the lamb though - it was spicy! While I was OK with that, others might be put off. The beignets were an excellent finish to our meal. I want to finish by highlighting the service. It was OUTSTANDING. Our server took excellent care of us, answered any and all questions, and was just great! My biggest regret is not catching her name in the beginning. We went to the Mansion on Forsyth last month, and this place BLOWS it away in overall experience. With so many great choices in Savannah, this one stands out.

Went here for a birthday dinner, the service was excellent and the food was even better. We loved being able to see in the beautiful kitchen and watch it operate under a lot of natural light.

Phenomenal dinner. Excellent food , excellent service, beautifully refurbished location. No detail is too small at the Grey and it shows. Highest recommendation.

Started off with very slow service. Waiter seemed to have too many tables. we were stuck in a strange booth with no view of the cool interior, by the kitchen door. This seems to happen with Open Table reservations :? Next time we will asked to be moved. Wine came out very warm (by the glass), he could only offer ice cubes, for a $14 glass of wine! He seemed unconcerned. After the initial speed bumps, the food came out timely, was excellent, portions were large. Trout, Lamb shoulder, heirloom tomato salad were all excellent. Smashed potatoes are a must!
