The Cafe food and drinks menu is bursting with fresh flavour, made with the finest quality ingredients and created with The Grounds own grown and locally sourced produce. The Cafe at The Grounds has team of chefs who constantly push the boundaries and reinvents the classics in order to deliver you perfect flavour combinations that will make you want to come back time and time again.

NOTE: At The Cafe, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to dine in, we operate on a walk-in only basis for smaller tables during peak hours. If no tables are available on arrival, we will add you to an electronic waiting list and text you when your table is ready, leaving you free to explore the rest of The Grounds. Rest assured, all groups on the wait list will be able to dine-in on the day.

The food and coffee were outstanding. The place was pumping but the staff are very well organised and know what they are doing. The Christmas alley was super cute. It’s really not the spot for family Christmas card photo shoots but a lot of Instamums were ruining the wonder and ambiance with such an activity.

If you don’t eat egg, be prepared to have the staff treat you like you’re asking them to wash a toilet seat when you ask they swap an egg out for a hashbrown. Wait time was ridiculous even having booked and the entire ‘vibe’, particularly in the cramped alley way, was trying exceptionally hard to be pretentious. All this after we asked where the cafe was and had eyes rolled at us for not knowing where something we’d never been to before was located. Go to a small business in Alexandria instead, this place is awful.

I found the experience overall disappointing. From a very small menu- 2 of the dishes were sold out by the time we got there. The waitress who was serving us at the end was beyond rude.

What a disappointment and we were expecting so much more considering all the hype. Parking, it’s like Westfield’s on December 24th. One entry only via a carpark which starts off with a goat pen, so I wasn’t sure if that meant we picked our meals there - pen to plate? This is also the starting point to battle your way through the bars and takeaway food outlets to reach the cafe, don’t look for signs - there are none. Cafe: no need to book (which we had) as they ignore that and make you line up with everyone else who are waiting to buy takeaway drinks and cakes or dine in. There is a small post at the door with arrows indicating where to line up for dining or takeaway but unfortunately if people stood in those designated lines no one could get out of the cafe as waitstaff constantly come and go with food and drinks catering to group diners within other parts of the venue. Once seated in the overcrowded cafe, as they’ve sacrificed customer comfort over putting in as many tables as possible, our hot meals arrived quickly but cold and the narrow mason glasses were full of ice leaving only a small amount for the drink. There’s only one male/female toilet, but given it’s as hot as hell in there you’ll dehydrate so you won’t need them. There’s no aircon or ceiling fans. Once you’ve paid for the meal you’re given the golden receipt, you will need this to enter the Christmas displays. This is a narrow pathway with large displays, all of which are crammed together and interspersed with stalls selling tacky merchandise and overpriced flowers. It all feels like a junkyard, or old rejects from past Myer and David Jones Christmas window displays. Be prepared to wait for those ahead of you to take their photos with the displays before you are exited into the car park again. I’m sure they’ll bang on about the “cost of living” as to why they justify the prices and due to popular demand want as many people through to experience it, but save yourself the trip and don’t bother.

The place was absolutely amazing! Even the torrential rain we got hit with didn’t take away from the vibe, scenery and atmosphere of the venue. Highly highly recommend The service and food were outstanding!
