There are few things as well beloved as the humble country pub. For the weary traveller, the glamper and the leisurely tourist alike, the sight of an inn on the horizon is always welcome. As locations go, Petersfield, on the outskirts of Sheet in South Downs National Park is up there with the best. The Half Moon on London Road in the centre of town is surely one of the best country pubs in Hampshire, too. Their menu is classically British with starters that include smoked duck with clementines and a balsamic dressing or a fresh soup of the day. The mains take in garlic and spinach pork tenderloin, tarragon turkey escalope and poached fillet of Atlantic salmon. Or, if you’re stopping by on a Sunday, there’s a full Sunday lunch serving with all the trimmings. You’ve no excuse not to try The Half Moon – so book a table now to avoid disappointment.
