Unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of disastrous. Despite booking the afternoon tea in advance, we were greeted with confusion from the staff who seemed completely unaware of our reservation.
Initially, we were sent to the bar to wait and assured that someone would come to get us when the table was ready. It wasn’t even a busy afternoon, yet we were forgotten for 25 minutes until I had to find the waiter myself, who admitted he had completely forgotten about us.
We eventually seated ourselves in the lounge and informed the same waiter, but it was another 30 minutes before anyone came to serve us. The manager did come down eventually, but things didn’t improve. Orders were forgotten repeatedly, including basic items like side plates. After waiting for a considerable time and asking two different waiters, both arrived simultaneously with the plates. Witnessing the same disorganized service at nearby tables, we even suggested they give the extra plates to another group experiencing similar issues.
When the afternoon tea finally arrived, it was underwhelming. The plates were visibly unclean, and while the food looked presentable, it was not fresh. The only redeeming item was a small scone. One decent item out of many simply doesn’t justify the cost.
The service wasn’t the only disappointment—the bathrooms were in a shocking state. No toilet paper in any cubicles, no hand towels, and broken electric dryers added to the dismal experience.
If the venue was short-staffed, it would have been professional to inform us from the outset, especially from the manager. A gesture of goodwill, such as a complimentary drink, would have at least acknowledged the delays and poor service.
At €75 per head, this experience was absolutely not worth it. I strongly urge others to avoid this establishment. From start to finish, it was a complete disaster.
