The Hemingway is a good quality pub that serves delicious no-nonsense grub.

You can see every dish being made to order in our open plan kitchen- no soggy microwaved frozen meals here! We take great care in sourcing our produce direct from the best suppliers both locally and abroad. Our menu is a mix of classic crowd pleasers and regularly changing seasonal dishes, which means you'll always find something to tempt your taste buds (even if you're in every day!).

We are a pub, not a cocktail bar and while we make a blinding Bloody Mary, and will happily mix you an Aperol Spritz or Negroni, we don't do Pina Coladas. That said, we are extremely proud of our wide range of spirits from around the globe, which (where possible) we offer at affordable prices. The wine list has been chosen to provide a simple but high quality selection that goes as well with our food as it does with some good company.

We’re visiting from out of country and the staff are all very warm and welcoming. It felt like home. The food was delicious.

We had a lovely meal, there was a slight issue when the waiter bumped into our table and sent everything flying into the floor including the drinks. The table had developed a wobble by becoming unscrewed and was therefore unstable. So we had to sit delicately as we ate our meal. We took this in good humour , but can only award a 4 star for the experience.

The place was in disarray. Apparently lots of staff rang in sick, and the temporary staff had no idea what they were doing. They completely forgot to put my order through, so by the time my main came, the rest of my party had finished. And when the bill came, we were told we were unable to split by amount (??!!) which is pretty standard practice. I felt bad for the few regular staff who were trying to steady the ship. The quality of the food wasn't great either, a friend had a veggie roast and their gravy was vegetable soup - not gravy. I asked for the missed meal to be removed from the bill, and they offered 50% off my main. I refused and they removed the whole main from the bill. Could genuinely have been one off due to staff sickness, but the whole afternoon was a bit of a wash out, mainly because of the service.

Food was ok - roast beef cooked really nicely but rest was fairly average. We got the cocktail sausages which were undercooked. Service wasn’t great - very hands off.

It’s a great pub but choose your days, it was busy and this means service and timings are stretched. Food was excellent to be fair but staff are pushed.

Roast was disappointing, ingredients were cheap, meat and potatoes were overcook and Yorkie was dripping in fat. Won’t be coming again for the roast but would try the other food as atmosphere and staff are great
