The Kings Arms lies deep in the heart of the East Devon countryside. We’re surrounded by wonderful local farmers and growers, and we aim to make the most of this by using locally-produced ingredients whenever possible. Our meat is sourced from our nearby family farm, and most of our fish is supplied by our very own fleet of fishing boats.

Here at the Kings Arms, we serve a varied, locally-sourced menu, with breakfast, lunch and dinner all available in the bar, conservatory and outdoor terraces. We will happily accommodate different dietary requirements, with friendly and informal table service wherever you choose to sit.

    ‘Tis the season to enjoy carefully selected, local produce, expertly prepared by our chefs! Select from seasonal favorites such as Roast Turkey & Beef from our farm and Lyme Bay Hake from our boats with a delectable starter or a sumptuous dessert, or go all out on all three courses! All bookings will include a free glass of prosecco / bucks fizz on arrival and chocolates from The Melting Whisk in Dawlish alongside Devon Coffee (yum!)     Let the Kings Arms worry about the Oven temperatures, the timings and the Washing up! Kick back and enjoy quality time with your loved ones at Christmas. Enjoy 6 delectable courses, lovingly put together by our team of chefs here at The Kings Arms. On arrival you will be welcomed by a glass of Kir Royale (non-alcoholic options also available) Our menu includes Canapes, Starters, Main, Cheeses, Dessert & Coffee and Chocolates. Christmas Day Menu bookings are £110.00 per Adult | £55.00 per child. Bookings begin 12pm and last seating is 14:30. All bookings require pre-order selections by Sunday 8th December. Full payment by Sunday 15th December. We will endeavor to accommodate any dietary requirements.

    Unfortunately the food was lukewarm and of very poor quality, waitress that served our meal had good social skills but the bar staff were not very friendly at all, ordered a coffee at the end of the meal but had to send it back as it was just coloured water.

    We were looking forward to our meal and ordered 2 large venison roasts. It was the smallest amount of meat I’d ever seen on a plate. Even if I’d ordered a small it would still have been very small. Hardly any gravy attall. Which was a shame as apparently it was made with red wine. But not enough to really taste it. 2 tiny quarters of roast potatoes is definitely not large! I understand it’s run and owned by Greendale. Very good produce but maybe they’re relying on that name a little heavily. We were totally unimpressed. Never leave reviews normally but this was a big disappointment. Won’t be eating there again. Had to wait an hour for the food. But the staff were very friendly. I was still hungry when we left and went to the shop by the river and bought something else to eat.

    I booked a table for 3 to celebrate my wife’s birthday. On arrival, we were asked if we were taking part in the quiz. Upon answering ‘no’, we were told to ‘sit anywhere’. After finding a table, we sat down to await table service. After 10 minutes of seeing no table staff at all, my daughter went up to the bar to ask for some menus; she was told ‘there is no menu this evening, it’s curry during the quiz’. This was not made clear on the pub website, nor when we booked the table. As my wife does not eat curry, we left in great disappointment. I doubt we shall return.

    My wife and I went for Sunday lunch. She had the small roast and I had the steak and ale pile. For dessert it was Pecan Pie and the Belgian Waffles. The service was prompt and attentive even though there was a big party eating at the same time. The food was good and tasty.

    Overall a pleasant evening. With 2 caveats; the tuna special was unpleasantly swimming in butter so it was impossible to taste the veg and potatoes. We also unfortunately were sat near a very young and very rowdy group but when we asked to be moved we immediately were offered another table.

    Lovely Sunday lunch followed by scrumptious puddings in a relaxed atmosphere .. asked for a quiet corner and this was exactly what was provided .. thank you for a lovely afternoon with our friends.
