I've always given 5* reviews but New Year's Eve was disappointing. Food was very below that which I normally experience. Aubergine fritters were soggy. Wellington was not what one would expect but rather two small short crust pastry enclosed pies. And the truffle cheese I'd pre ordered was not available but rather than tell me that, I was served plain cheese (they did remove the cost from the bill, but then we returned it without eating it). We were (politely but totally unexpectedly) asked to vacate our table after an hour as the entertainment needed to be set up, which meant we had no opportunity to order dessert. Really very disappointed, but wine was good, and staff were (as always) pleasant. Shame though. Will return to The Pig next NYE.

Entering the pub was a delight, this was our first visit. Bar staff were sharp and attentive. Restaurant was quite plain and lacking in atmosphere considering it was New Year’s Eve. Food was pretty poor, considering the cost we felt this was not value for money. Our 2 guests chose a pre-ordered dish, which was £45 per person which had to be sent back and the replacement sadly was not much better. The manager did however only charge for one which was appreciated. On a positive note the wine was reasonably priced and pleasant which was very refreshing! Overall the staff were very pleasant. We realise New Years Eve is a difficult night and we would perhaps book again at a quieter time.

Would recommend. Excellent food and service. Also liked that there was no service charge added to bill, and there was the choice of adding a tip.

Good quality food in a beautiful venue and location. Wine is VERY expensive - £27 for two large glasses of sauvignon blanc.

Friendly staff, room a bit cold but food was disappointing. We chose the Christmas turkey dinner. Food tepid, but quite tasty. They forgot our pigs in blankets and nobody came to ask if everything was ok. When clearing our plates the waitress asked - bit late! When told there were no p-i-b she said she'd tell the chef. We assume this is standard speak to fob us off as no message came back from chef! Husband mentioned it again at the end as no word from kitchen and they knocked £2.50 each off bill. I'd rather have had the food! Next door table also missing something from one plate. Not serious problems but, disappointing and we expected better.
