The Little Brown Jug is a fantastic place to eat, meet and relax. The pub is set in the beautiful Kentish Countryside with open log fires and a fantastic beer garden, where you can unwind and enjoy one of our selection of well kept cask ales or something from our extensive wine list.
Our menu offers simple hearty British Gastro food and we pride ourselves on sourcing the finest local produce from local suppliers. We serve food all day at The Little Brown Jug so you can choose to have a late lunch or early dinner during the summer, even breakfast over the weekends whilst you enjoy the warm, relaxed and informal atmosphere. We do run reduced hours during the winters months so please check our website. We have made fantastic additions to are garden area with extra Tiki huts and a beautiful covered patio area.
You can let the train take the strain as Penshurst train station is directly across the road from the pub.

Amazing food, good service. Had a dog with us, which is fine. Fantastic drinks menu for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Can't wait to return!

The setting is beautiful, however it was extremely busy, which may have affected the quality of the food. We were a table of 4, eating different things from the restaurant menu. We were all disappointed with what we had.

Very slow service. Party of 4, two of us had starters. One starter arrived 15 mins after ordering, the other 15 mins after that. Main courses arrived 35 mins after last starter was finished… an hour and 10 minutes after ordering. We were seated near kitchen door so very noisy … orders being called, staff calling to each other, doors banging, plates being dropped … you get the picture. Food was adequate, nothing more. Won’t be hurrying back.

Great location and nice ambiance, and pleasant staff, but very average food, which is a shame as my last visit several years ago had good food, with a much better choice. I had the fish cakes which were bland and this was a special. Shame but it obviously caters for the masses.

Lovely pub, the LBJ, the food is always excellent, good selection of wines and beer always well kept and poured. Unfortunately, over an hour’s wait for the order. Short staffed, apparently. Lot of it about these days but poorly trailed however pleasant the waiting staff. Otherwise, again, the food shames most pub roasts.

Very pleasant atmosphere starter perfect but the Main was terrible. Potatoes where very chewy as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp. My meat was way too rare a choice as to how I would of liked it would of been better. In all we had 2 mains which on each plate was meat potatoes Yorkshire and greens still left which In my opinion sums up the main courses. But on a positive note both starters 7-10 Both mains 4-10 1 pudding. 10-10 We would return as we noticed you was serving a variety of different meals. Would we recommend. Not for the roast but maybe the other choices.

LBJ is such a lovely place to dine. The food is always fantastic with some great lumiyed menu items. The lasagna is second to none, although disappointed it doesn’t come with the delicious garlic bread anymore. My partner and son shared the paella which they are still talking about the next day. Can’t wait to return.
