My family tried the Lobby at Ace for Sunday brunch, as it was close to church and the bottomless brunch and menu looked good. There were also options for our two younger children. We were unfortunately disappointed.
When we arrived, we were not given the brunch menu, and had to ask for it. Then, we stated that my wife and I would like to do the brunch, and we would order off the menu for the kids (9 and 3 years old). We were told this was not an option, and all at the table would have to participate in the brunch. This was due to the pastry/lox tower and snack cart. Our kids weren't interested in the lox or the snack cart, and just wanted some pancakes and eggs that we were happy to pay for off the menu. It's ridiculous for us to pay the $45 for my 3 year old who's not going to eat anything off of the brunch. I could see it maybe for my 9 year old, but she wasn't going to eat anything off of the towers either, maybe a pastry.
Our server went to talk to the manager, and we were told we all had to get/pay for the brunch. The manager did not come over and talk to us. We were very disappointed in the way this was handled. We ordered the kids breakfast since they were starting to get hangry and didn't want to try and find someplace else at short notice. After we ordered, the server came back and said she talked to another manager who would have "comped" the kids brunches, but we were done at that point and had already ordered. The first order of pancakes came out burned and tasted like it as well. Eggs were fine, the bacon was VERY smoky. They did remake the pancakes and they were fine.
I was disappointed in the lack of understanding from a hotel that assumedly has other families that would be in our situation. We have been to plenty of other brunches in the city and have never had the kids handled like this. We will not be going back.
