Ireland's most iconic drawing room looks out on the only garden grand enough to match: the glorious St. Stephen's Green. The Lord Mayor's Lounge is the perfect back drop for a special day in Dublin. A room sparkling with light; it is a welcoming setting for our celebratory theatre of that most civilised ritual: the art of Afternoon Tea.
The elements have remained unchanged over the centuries: a fragrant pot of tea, a succession of sweets and delicate sandwiches, fine china, fresh flowers and delighted laughter. This time is all about enjoying the lovely things in life, an experience designed to be shared and savoured. Time slows down and the art of conversation is revived.

From December 1st, our wonderful Lounge will convert to a casual dining venue from 7.30pm daily, allowing our guests to experience an exquisite food offering in our iconic setting.

                  Classic éclair with rich caramel diplomat cream and crunchy praline

                  • Citrus Macaroon

                    Crème pâtissière with lemon curd on a soft, moist macaroon and citrus pâte de fruit

                      Service was excellent; lovely setting; delicious tea and champagne; however, champagne prices were not worth it and scones were somewhat dry.

                      Overall we had a hugely disappointing afternoon in the Shelbourne. The afternoon tea is vastly over rated and absolutely not worth the price. We booked a 5pm sitting and our whole tea, but in particular the sandwiches, had clearly been sitting in the fridge all day. They were cold and dry on arrival to our table. The scones and a couple of the deserts were inedible. The staff also began to clear the room around us which made us very uncomfortable. On the plus side, the setting and the staff were lovely.

                      We had a lovely afternoon tea in the Shelbourne Hotel. Service was amazing and food was excellent. . We will definately be back. The ambience was lovely. We were very relaxed.

                      My husband and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at the Lord Mayor’s Lounge. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was charming. The food was delicious-we especially liked the pistachio slice with raspberry jam! Wonderful experience!

                      Had afternoon tea in the shelbourne, amazing experience. We arrived out of the rain and our bags and coats were dried by the wonderful staff. Received food promptly, apsolutely gorgeous selection with each item delicately prepared. Hotel was spotless, bathrooms smelled amazing as well as the rest of the hotel. Sublime experience and worth every penny.

                      Fabulous afternoon tea experience. Beautiful elegant room, delicious sandwiches & cakes and excellent service from our waitress Johana. Loved that you could try different teas and coffees if you wished.
