   Steak Oscar, Shrimp Oscar, Ahi tuna - all were excellent tonight. Service was great with an experienced staff.

   We are in the Cove Bar and we’re well attended by the wait staff. The food was some of the best we had in the area and we each loved everything we ordered. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for service because the kitchen seemed very slow. We waited 15 minutes between each course. I hope they can get the timing down.

   Was seated promptly at reservation time, service was a bit slow but steady. We ordered the 18 oz ribeyes, sadly both came out well charred on the outside and center was uncooked red and in-rendered tendons. I don’t mind the char but the uncooked inside is uncalled for. The salads were good, I myself feel that twice backed potatoes and “fine dining” advertising doesn’t go together. With that all being said, I will try them again as this was our first visit and may have caught the kitchen on a bad night. The cocktail were good but very small, I ordered an old fashioned that was barely more than 1 1/2 oz. With a large cube of ice to make it look like more. I feel for the prices they are charging the quality needs to be seriously addressed by the chef.

   If you want fabulous food and a beautiful atmosphere go to this restaurant! I am a wine lover so I was pleasantly surprised looking at the wide variety of wine! They have a wine spectator award!!! We started out with the boudin wontons for an appetizer. Delicious!!! The sea bass was perfectly cooked with a crunch on the outside. Yummy! I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Natchitoches.

   The Mariners is always a great place to eat, the ambiance the food and the service are always excellent. When I have friends and family visiting me this is the “go to” place since I can always count on a great experience. As owner of Natchitoches Bed and Breakfast family of Inns in Natchitoches I can also assure you that many of our guest rate The Mariners as one of their top dining destinations in Historic Natchitoches Louisiana.
