This was our first time there, even though it's been open for over a year. We're sorry it took so long for us to go. The environment was great and the food was great. Finally, when we got the bill, we found it was very affordable. While not cheap, I've paid way more for the same great quality of food and service. I highly recommend.

After many wonderful meals here, we were sadly disappointed by the food and the service. The potato leek soup and mussel appetizers were great. The prime rib was raw, thick, and cold. The short ribs were tough and fatty. Our server forgot our drink order, forgot to bring the salad, neglected to clear plates, forgot to add our bottle of wine to our bill, and chatted with fellow servers instead of attending to her tables. I don’t think we’ll be back. We noticed the Thanksgiving Day buffet was not on par with previous events, so this confirmed that things are going downhill.

This small venue at this boutique hotel was a wonderful experience. We were aware of the once weekly "Date Night Menu" and understood it to be a limited menu. We were pleasantly surprised to have additional choices which were excellent. Our waitress (Rebecah) made it especially enjoyable.

The food was fantastic, and the service was excellent. Our waitress, Rebecca, did a great job checking on us and getting what we needed without being bothersome. Atmosphere is very nice with the Christmas decorations up and a piano playing Christmas music. Great experience overall!

We enjoyed having a Sunday brunch with friends. Our table was located by windows overlooking the marsh along the river, a beautiful view. Brunch was tasty, accompanied by mimosas and coffee. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. In the background, Christmas music could be softly heard coming from a player piano in the adjoining lobby. We will be back.

Great experience at The Oaks. Our family along with grandchildren had Breakfast with Santa. Excellent on all levels organized, food, kids activities etc. atmosphere along with happy employees and the most beautiful decorations made for a perfect holiday celebration Susan H

Darien’s best kept secret! Comfortable, Relaxing ambiance, friendly attentive wait staff, terrific food & all at reasonable prices, this place was an oasis after a long day on the road! It is attached to the Oaks on the River boutique hotel, one of the finest in the southeast. My husband had the short ribs & mashed potatoes & raved about them. I had the pistachio encrusted salmon which was excellent. Rebecca waited on us and she was among the very best! We will be back!!

We were celebrating Thanksgiviving with family. As we were not from this area we had no idea what to expect. We were so surprised when we arrived. The entrance was decorated with multiple Christmas trees surrounded by beautiful decorations everywhere. The fire in the fireplace was roaring and the player piano wads playing Holiday songs. The food was impeccable but what made the evening special was the “Southern hospitality” everyone shown us. No one was more delightful than Rebecca our server. She was so sweet and seemed to know what we always needed. The evening was just perfect.

I regret to report that our experience at the Thanksgiving Buffet was very poor. They ran out of food and the food that remained was cold! There is no excuse for running out of turkey at a Thanksgiving Buffet for which we were charged $75 per person! There was no turkey, no stuffing, and they ran out of sweet potatoes, a Thanksgiving staple. The only food left at the "hot" buffet was green bean casserole, salmon, and some kind of sliced beef. I had the green bean casserole and salmon. Both were cold and the salmon was so tough as to be inedible. My husband also had the beef and reported that it was cold. After a couple of bites, neither my husband nor I ate any of what should have been our entree. The only thing I had that was warm was some macaroni and cheese that I got from the "kids bar." The appetizer bar and dessert bars held the only selections that were acceptable. Suffice it to say that we were extremely disappointed. We would certainly never go back to this location. The server was polite and attentive. Really the only good thing about the experience. I rarely write negative reviews and regret doing so in this case, but I could not recommend this restaurant.
