The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes.

We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.

Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Throughout the summer we offer BBQ dining from our hand-cranked Asado and Rotisserie Grills.

    Spring has sprung! Wonderful English lamb and suckling pigs start to show at market and asparagus and beans become ripe for the picking. Easter beckons and optimism reigns supreme. Herring are at one of their two annual peaks and Oysters start to lose their milky flesh. Weather permitting, anything may be on offer! Join us for our monthly Wednesday Supper Club, a themed tasting experience that celebrates great food.

    Fallow Deer season ends on 30th April, so we salute this wonderful venison as another season closes. But as one door closes, another opens. Shellfish & Wild Bass are in-and the garden is really starting to show its paces. Rhubarb, beans, peas and seed potatoes such as the mighty Jersey Royal come into their finest.     Things start to get really interesting in June. Cherries, berries and weather permitting, even tomatoes start to show themselves. Winged game starts again; Pheasant and partridge come in. At The Punch Bowl we are so lucky to be offered some of the finest homegrown and cultivated fruit and vegetables that our fellow villagers, family and friends produce.     A truly lovely restaurant/pub . Our waitress was very accommodating . The food was fantastic and even the children cleaned their plates . I would definitely recommend for families or a special occasion.

    Just great. Really lovely place to come to eat and enjoy some drinks. Took my mum and dad with my wife and daughter for Mother’s Day. We arrived early (on purpose) to have drinks in the bar and then went through for dinner. We had oysters , a starter, a main and dessert. All of the food and drinks were excellent. Can’t wait to go back!

    Wonderful meal for 3, catered for my daughter who has a lemon allergy perfectly., with a great selection of foods. Everything freshly prepared, excellent service, very tasty food, well presented generous portions. New menu every day with local ingredients! Highly recommend and will be back!

    The simply is by far the best experience in south The food is excellent and such high quality H dish is full of flour perfectly cooked This is the second time my partner and I have been to the punch people who eat out regularly in London ex seeds any other restaurant Location is absolutely stunning and easy to park It has a wonderful atmosphere and feels every time we visit Was so knowledgeable and attentive she made the visit thank you

    Superb food, very high quality environment, spotless linen serviettes/tablecloth and a waitress who was polite and charming. It was a very enjoyable lunch.
