Located on the site of one of the last complete medieval battlegrounds in Europe, the Rockingham Arms is both the start and end of a complete four-mile trail which takes you through stunning landscapes with views across Towton-le-Dale. As an 18th Century country Inn on the Old London Road the Pub has been a hospitable retreat and village pub since 1722.
Our team of talented chefs create sumptuous food from locally sourced ingredients and our bar has a raging fire in winter where you can relax into deep leather chairs and enjoy fine cask ales or rare scotch and artisnal gin, rum or vodka. Our lovely light and airy garden room is the perfect place for a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings or if you would like a more intimate setting we have private dining in the ‘old brewery,’ room dating from the early 17th century.

Available Monday to Thursday, 5-7pm. Changes weekly, call on the day to check availability. Two courses for £15 or three courses for £18.

We were very welcome at the Rockingham Arms near the Towton Battlefield last week. I took my Australian friends for a bit of English History, food and ale only to find that the chef was from Melbourne! We enjoyed a delightful chat with Lee who served up the most delicious steak pie with proper shortcrust pastry. Enjoyed our meal very much, thank you!

This was my first experience at the Rockingham Arms, read the reviews and thought I would like to try for myself and see. Wow, such a good welcome by the staff, choice of tables to sit at which was not too noisy. The service was excellent, knowledge of the menu and dishes available was good. We ate a delicious meal with good wine and beer. Well done to all at the Rockingham Arms, we shall definitely be booking again.

We are only 5 minutes from this lovely pub....we had a fabulous meal.The menu was imaginative , the service and food excellent.Will be back!

Turned up for lunch and pub had no record of our booking despite confirmation email from opentable. We were however found a table. Waitress staff friendly but food did not live up to expectations. Beef was very chewy and roast potatoes and Yorkshire pics very barely war. The broccoli was practically warm. Starters were good and pudding portion was large and ok.

Booked online with openable, called soon after to confirm all in order, pleasingly it was. Arrived early, no problems at all. Seated straight away, all servings were pleasent, the meal (Sunday lunch) was simply superb, good quality ingredients, so so tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit all in. Will be returning again.

Extremely enjoyable experience in a beautifully presented environment catered for my perfectly attentive staff. Many exciting options on the menu along with a pub classics section so will be back to try at least a couple of others I had my eye on. The weather was great so we got to sit in the immaculately presented beer garden, would highly recommend!
